A STEP-BY STEP ONLINE TRAINING
FOR STREET PHOTOGRAPHERS OF ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE
Learn how to approach people in the streets with ease and confidence, make compelling, soul-filled street portraits, and actually love every minute of your creative process. Gain more creative freedom and build a powerful body of work. In a different, new way.
The ability to create powerful, candid, compelling street portraits is one of the most beautiful street photography skills. A deep street portrait stops you in your tracks, touches your soul and opens up your heart.
How many times have you scrolled through your Instagram feed and suddenly stopped to study a breathtaking portrait? I know I have. The lifetime reflected in the face. The look in the eyes. The emotion. The moment of connection. The questions that arise when you study the photograph. The things you suddenly want to know about the stranger. The conversation you desire to have with them.
In my own body of work, street portraits are irreplaceable. When you flip through my photography books, you see that close-up portraits are heavily represented in each and every one of them. And believe it or not, although I used to fear them, stress about them and avoid them, they are now one of the most important (and most beloved) parts of my work.
I get you. Making street portraits is not easy. In fact, I believe that for most of us it's the hardest part. Candid street portraits require lots of courage and creative skills, if we want to get them right. And getting them right always means getting close. There is no way around this. And it's scary.
When I started to learn the art of making street portraits, I realized most of the advice out there just didn't work for me. I found the principles taught by many big-name street photographers too aggressive, too ego-based, too raw, too emotionless, and sometimes even cruel. And I thought: "If making street portraits means working this way, and being this kind of person, I pass. This is not for me."
However, the desire to tell stories through street portraits was stronger than my fear. And deep inside I knew there had to be another way. A better way. A more connected, authentic, easier way. A more humane, softer approach.
It took years of practice, but I finally created my own method of making street portraits. A method that suits my personality, that brings out the best in me, and that helps me tell deep, meaningful, beautiful stories through people's eyes, smiles, moods and gestures.
This new way of making street portraits changes everything. It has completely shifted the way I do street photography. And I'm going to reveal it to you in my upcoming webinar.
In this content-rich online training, you're going to learn:
1. The new way of making street portraits in 21st century
First, we will briefly look at the old approach to street portraits. I will cover different methods and approaches you may have been taught in the past, and explain why the old, aggressive and stealthy methods of making street portraits don't work for you. And why they don't work anymore in today's world either.
Then, I will teach you the new way! I will show you how to approach and make street portraits in a heart-centered, connected, authentic way, with joy and ease. This is my own creative process that I have developed and use to create deep, powerful bodies of work. Get ready to fall in love with street portraits forever.
2. Conquer your fears
We will cover the most common fears most street photographers face. I will teach you an easy, elegant way to conquer them, keep them at bay and actually transform them into a source of creative strength and freedom.
3. Develop an empowering street mindset
A powerful portfolio starts with and reflects the person behind the camera. I will teach you how to manage your mindset and your energy consistently and effectively, so you can feel confident and connected, stay focused and calm under any circumstances, and fully express your vision.
4. Get ready to make street portraits
I will give you practical tips and tools and tell you exactly what you need to do before you hit the streets. This is a crucial part of the training because your work doesn't begin in the streets, it begins before you walk out of the door. You will receive the same checklist I use to get ready to work, that will transform your photographer's life forever.
5. Hit the streets and make candid street portraits
I will teach you 12 kinds of street portraits, step by step, complete with creative exercises that you can start practicing with right now. I will show you examples taken from my own body of work, and explain how to approach them and make them work for you. You will learn them in order of difficulty: if you're just beginning, you will ease your way into street portraits. And you will also challenge yourself creatively further along the way with more complicated assignments.
At the end of the training, you will receive a workbook so you can continue working on the five steps and on the 12 creative assignments.
At the end of the training, you will be able to pick my brain and ask me any question you want.
If you can’t attent live, don’t worry! You will receive a recording of the training.
